city of antwerp
brief: a reportage film format for online publication and tv broadcast that communicates to the broader antwerp metropolitan area about up coming cultural, ecological, artistic and other news and events.
the city of antwerp commissioned a film format that allowed for continuous communication with its citizens over online and television platforms.
for about a decade, this short reportage format appeared twice per week; highlighting artists, cultural events, significant information and relevant news.
the reportage format allowed for personal portraits of people – ranging from antwerp’s top artists, authors, curators, poets, to up and comers in all fields creative – which told both their intimate stories as well as providing a current link to an event – be it an exhibition, a poetry festival, or a museum renovation.
the format allowed for wide angle lenses to capture the person of interest in their daily routine, to be inter-cut with more poetic visually aesthetic close ups filmed with longer lenses. Combining these two types of footage with an interview allowed for a captivating intimacy and informative visual storytelling.
